Bali Day 3

6 am Ready to go

A full 8 hours of sleep…I felt glorious this morning when I woke up at 5am. Making sure I was showered and dressed ready to go by 8. I had breakfast at 7, Ketut made me delicious breakfast again. Fixed with tempeh, tofu, hard boiled egg, potatoes, green beans, carrots and more delicious fruit with some amazing peanut sauce (slightly spicy).

Breakfast

I was heading up to my dream spot. The only place I had planned for my entire trip was this treehouse in Sukasada, northern Bali. Originally I wanted to stay for a week and then I was only able to get 3 days. I was willing to take anything. If you saw the pictures I saw, you know why. It’s my birthday and this is really the most special stay for me.

I left Ubud with Rai and we drove 2.5 hours north on all kinds of roads. Went through many little villages and passed so many little fruit stands on the side of the road. It was quite breathtaking. I was soaking it all in. We left so early because it’s a 2 lane road all the way here and if there are buses on the road, they slow up traffic. So we left at 8 and honestly I’m not even sure when we arrived.

The road to get to this place is very tiny. Somehow Rai made it down the first road. We looked at each other and down the tiny little path and he says, thats the end of the road for me. lol. So I grabbed all my goodies and walked carefully down the path.

As I walked onto the property my body began to feel at ease, even with all the weight I was carrying, I felt as light as a feather. I stopped and took it all in, the smells, the sounds, the air…literally breathtaking.

The lovely ladies here showed me my space…WOWWWWWW! Straight from a movie, It’s seriously like a dream, I am very much living a dream right now. This place is like magic. I never want to leave this place, like never ever…

I dropped off all my belongings and went back downstairs to finish the tour. A gentleman, Vipin, whom has been staying here for about a year now. I know why…I mean really. We talked and I ate another breakfast, omelette and fruit and a watermelon juice.

I then made all my calls so that I can go off grid for the rest of the day. I was on the phone with my sister and my phone was so hot it shut off in the middle of our conversation. So I put my phone in the fridge to cool down for a few minutes. I plugged it in and went straight to the water. They have a hammock hanging over the stream to enjoy. So I climbed right on in and meditated. It was heaven. Then I decided it was nap time. So I came upstairs and laid on the outside bed. Not sure how long I was there for but it was cozy.

When I got up I remembered I had laundry to do. I took everything to the bathroom sink and washed and then laid outside to dry. Before I knew it, it was time for dinner. I had the ladies make me chicken curry. So good with white rice and watermelon water.

Today was more for me and getting situated, not trying to work or get big things done. Just be. And that is exactly what I did.

About 730pm the ladies were leaving the property and wished me well. Vipin had already made his way back to his cozy corner and I sat outside all alone on this beautiful property. Taking it all in, the insects, birds, bats, water, everything was new to me and quite delightful. I eventually made it to bed at 830pm; crazy, but I was tired. Wrapped the bug net around the bed and off to lala land for this one…

Blessed…

Epic Journey Abroad

I embark on the most epic journey of my lifetime thus far on Tuesday. I am going to Bali and Cambodia for 2 months for my first solo trip over seas. I bought my ticket last year maybe around September and have done zero planning of this trip for when I am over there.

I am going to Bali for a week and then to Cambodia, Siem Reap, for 2 weeks. Then back to Bali for the remainder of my time. I only set myself up in 3 places. The first week I am there I have found a nice AirBNB in Ubud, where I will spend the first 3 nights before I go all the way to the other side of the island to stay in a treehouse for several nights. And that’s all that I have booked in Bali. As for Cambodia I booked a hostel for the first 3 nights I am there and that’s it too. I figured everything will work out the way it’s supposed to when I get to these amazing places.

So the most planning I did for this trip was setting myself up for success at home. I have student loans, a car loan, bills etc. The one thing I am ever so grateful for is not having rent to pay for while I am away. I had just moved back from Florida and leaving my stuff at my parents while I am away. And I no longer have a job or incoming money and who knows what will happen when I get back. I have no clue what, when, where…

With all these loans and bills that I owe money to monthly, I started saving money to pay everything through August so I won’t have to worry so much when I get back, in May. Financially I am set and free to do whatever I need to do to enjoy my time abroad.

My original flight was flying through Sol Korea, due to Worldly events I had to change everything around. I am now flying through Australia there and back and for those of you who know me, I have more chances of “Gummy Bear” this way! hahaha

Ok so now comes the packing list. I have never done this before and thankfully I had my sister who has to give me tips. I am not a backpacker, although one day I would like to try, but I am only bringing 2 carry on bags. A backpack and a small standard suitcase.

Packing List:

  • 3 soxs
  • 7 underwear
  • 3 tshirts
  • 3 shorts- all for different purposes
  • 2 pants
  • 1 skirt
  • 1 long sleeve
  • bathing suit
  • 4 tank tops
  • rain jacket
  • bandana
  • 2 flipflops- 1 for bathroom
  • hiking shoes
  • everyday slip on shoes
  • band aids
  • toothbrush/ paste
  • deodorant
  • colloidal silver
  • protein bars
  • tissue packs
  • visine
  • my hair product
  • shampoo/ conditioner
  • Imodium, migraine pills, benedryl, vitamins
  • Journal
  • small journal
  • book
  • laptop
  • camera
  • headphones
  • travel battery pack
  • extra bags to shrink down stuff

That feels like a lot but I am going for 2 months so thats what I got.

I will let you know if that is too much or if I didn’t use anything, but I am happy with my decisions for each item I am bringing.

All in all I googled and read so many blogs and did a lot of research on everything that I feel confident in the non-planning. I have many ideas and listed them so I know where I definitely want to go. But I have no set time to do them. Just going with the flow.

I get asked a lot, are you scared? Are you nervous? How can you do something like that by yourself?

Bon Voyage

The answer is this, I am excited, my nerves are jumping around for sure but in the most positive way possible. This is my birthday trip that I have been talking about doing for the past 5 years, this was going to happen. Everything happens for a reason and in Universe’s time, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to do this solo. It’s going to be a true adventure like none other. I see so many young women and men travelling solo worldwide, there is no reason I can’t do it either. So here I am… following my joy, my happiness and most importantly my authentic self.

I will see you in Bali…

PEI, Here we come

Day 3 of our adventurous journey

We had decided to take our time leaving St. Andrews. Sleep was important and was was our morning routines. Eventually we packed up our belongings and left the room, headed to down to eat breakfast before we depart. We took one last looky lou around the room and saw it was snowing outside…booooo! I remember one other time it snowed on my birthday, so uncool mother nature.

Anyways, we meandered down to the restaurant and ordered the breakfast sandwich, if you happen to go there, make sure you try that at least one time…so delicious!

We both looked at each other and realized that the bridge to PEI had a toll, I told Krysta, I have a $1. She looked at me with her quirky smile and said yeah, probably more than that. So I googled it. I just about choked on m y water when I read $47 and change. I certainly did not exchange any money so hoping they take CC we left. We later found out that they do take CC, however not until you leave PEI.

We start our 4 plus hour journey to Prince Edward Island. Today, the 25th is my actual birthday and as we drove on, the rain kept on and the snow kept appearing. I don’t mind the snow but with snow comes cold weather and when you are on the water its windy so I was not 100% enjoying the drive. Especially because I was driving (my new car).

We passed through many small areas of nothing and then we would come up and more nothing. We did drive through a major city, if that’s what you would like to call it. It was cute and quaint and at this time I cannot recall the name of the town. But they did have a Costco! hahaha.

Needless to say we make it to the bridge. It really was beautiful and wicked long, I’m pretty sure it’s about 8 miles. You look out and nothing but ocean. Gorgeous. However I was driving so I had to be cautious and keep my eyes on the road.

We continue to drive for what feels like forever by now. We finally make it to our Bed n Breakfast spot. WOW, gorgeous and centered basically downtown. It is called “Fairholm INN”.

We pull in and unload after checking in. Our room was so cute and quaint, there were 7 rooms I believe 6 were upstairs and the dining area was equipped with a fireplace and lounging and about 5 two top tables for breakfast all set with plates and menus for the next mornings breakfast.

I stepped outside to grab a couple more things out of the car and ran into the owner, Brook. I was staring at my phone while walking to my car and I hear a voice, he’s friendly! I look down and this huge beautiful dog came running up to me, so excited to play I pet him as he jumps around me in excitement. Brook let me in on some good eats around the area, I let him know we did not want to be in the car any longer. So he suggested several places around the block.

Krysta and I landed at Terra Rouge, small menu, but there was something for the both of us. So we stayed. At this point I was achingly hungry, I was sweating even though it was raining because I needed something in my belly. I asked the lovely lady if they had any bread, because at this point I couldn’t even focus on the menu. She brought out some delicious bread and butter.

For those of you who don’t know me…I LOVE BUTTER!

I slathered the bread with the weird looking butter and starting eating. I just about fell to the floor wondering what on earth this woman just gave me, it was the best tasting butter I had ever eaten! She came back and told me it was miso butter and they make it in house. My mind was blown. I needed more of this, like all the time. Even though I don’t really eat alot of bread at all, I would figure out a way to consume the amount of butter I purchased from them.

After dinner we wandered back to the inn and decided to rest for the remainder of the evening. Two long days of driving we were tired. The beds we had were amazing comfortable. I always bring my own pillow but I didn’t need to. I was all cozied up on my twin bed.

Krysta was nervous about falling out of her bed, but gratefully she didn’t!

Here is the info for Fairholm Inn and Terra Rouge.

Birthday Weekend

Day 1 of our adventure…

My best friend kept asking me what I wanted to do for my birthday at least a month in advance. All I knew is that I wanted to get out of town, but where. After lots of pondering, we decided to go to PEI, Prince Edward Island. I had never been, or least don’t recall ever going even as a child and she has once as a child.

We decided we would leave on Wednesday and return on Sunday. My intentions for this trip was to relax and chill. No major plans besides romping on the grounds where Anne of Green Gables was filmed.

Our journey began around 9 am on Wednesday morning, we took off with excitement and joy. Our first stop was breakfast, neither one of us really eat breakfast like many do. So we decided to stop at the “Maine Diner” in Wells and have breakfast burritos. YUMMMM

Off we went, We decided to take the scenic route to the first hotel in Saint Andrews, Canada. Lots of weird roads and creepy broken down houses mixed with beautiful scenery and interesting things to find on the side of the road. Like a stuffed unicorn in someones yard near the road propped up by a tree stump.

Our travels took us some time but we were just super excited to cross the border into Canada. Just to find out that we still had 2 more hours to go, or at least thats what it felt like, lol! The journey was beautiful but I was ready to just sit and relax, eat and jump into the Jacuzzi.

Healing

About a week ago I was working, I am a server at a restaurant with seating upstairs as well as down. It was a Friday night and in the middle of a dinner rush. I was working upstairs and had to consistently go up and down for food and other things.

I was about to make a trip downstairs with a bus bucket full of dirty plates and glasses. I began my trek down the stairs with both hands full and side stepping so that I may see the stairs. My foot got too close to the edge half way down and as if in slow motion I started to fall. I let go of the bus bucket entirely to assure my safety and fell backwards. My foot slipped off the edge so my entire right side of my body was sliding down the stairs.

It was a real loud crash with all the dishes and glasses breaking at the base of the stairs and a thud thud thud as the side of my body kept sliding on the staircase. I laid there for a few moments in shock and looked at this little girl whose eyes were wide and mouth gaping open. She was scared, I was in pure shock. We stared at each other for what felt like eternity when my coworker asked me if I was ok. I stood up, unsure if my body was ok or not and continued as if nothing was wrong. I didn’t know what else to do.

Later that evening I made it home and checked out my body. I started to feel the pain, no bruising yet but I felt it coming. The next morning I was barely able to move. I iced my entire right side, and rubbed lemongrass all over my bruises and ate pineapples to assist my body with the bruising from the inside out.

The following day I was to return to work, I decided I was not going to make it. I was still in such pain. I was able to get my shift covered and went to Flote. Where, as I have mentioned before, I go and float in 1000lbs of epsom salt for an hour. I was still in pain but I felt that it was going to reveal how helpful that was later in the day.

I went home to be greeted by my best friend and for the first time in a long time, I had reiki done to me. It was so nice to be the recipient. I continued to ice for the remainder of the day and finished off my pineapples.

The next day I was going to go back to work regardless of what I was feeling; and after all the healing modalities I worked with since it happened, paid off. I was able to work pain free, as long as no one brushed up against my right side. I made sure to stay out of the way.

Multiple things about how and why this occurred. The right side of the body is your masculine side and your right side is your feminine side. Being that my entire right side had been laid out and bruised up, led me to believe that I am not in balance. I had been working on my feminine side, as in, feeding my inner goddess but seemed to have neglected the masculine side. Bringing them in balance involves me looking into what is going on, on an emotional level and in some cases subconsciously.

In my case, I learned for myself that I was lacking strength, not physical but emotional. Dominance and personal power, being assertive. For me this reflects all relationships I’ve had with men in the past and I’m not talking just about romantic relationships but ALL. I needed to build my strength and courage and release all past relations with men where I had been put down or taken advantage of.

I shared this information with a few of my close friends and Leslie replied back. “You need to get grounded. and you need to go back, way back, childhood, past lives. release, clear and heal the past….go deep Jen, deep into the past. There is something you are avoiding. You have to see it, heal it, clear it. Then you will be able to move forward. It’s dark…body wrenching tears…”

Who wants to go back and figure that out???? I certainly did not want to do such things. Especially the fact that its body wrenching tears. I told her, I will but today is not the day. lol. I honestly took it in and let it go. I would have liked to have said yes lets do this now and figure this out but I didn’t. I needed to heal my body first.

So I left it at that. My birthday was coming up and my best friend and I were going to PEI to get away and that’s when I was going to do it. Because that trip was going to be all about relaxing and healing for the both of us.
