Facing Fears

As most of you know I have been in fear of riding the motorbike on main roads and going by myself anywhere far; on the bike. Some reasons for that fear is my phone not working, getting lost, not being able to find my way home, navigating around fast moving vehicles and other motorbikes.

I have my motorcycle license in the states, but I haven’t been on a motorcycle since I got it back in 2015. Sad, I know. Then some of you know my phone hasn’t been the most reliable as of late.

With that being said, I learned how to roam with Aric back in Saba. He did take me down the main road for a minute. I felt more comfortable riding on the side roads. As time has moved on, if anyone was going anywhere I would make sure I could tag along. More practice and getting to know roads and how to ride around cars and motorbikes in small doses.

In a week and half I have been riding on the main roads with my roommates to other towns. Mind you my roommates have motorbikes at home and have been riding since they were young. I have been able to keep up with them and been enjoying it.

Over the past weekend we took a road trip to Uluwatu and I followed along on my motor bike. (Side note- if you read my last blog, about the flat tires…I cannot believe I forgot to write that I had a flat tire before we even left the neighborhood that morning! Crazy town…) Anyways, so we went on their kinda highways and turned everywhere and crossed traffic from all directions. I was very aware of my every move and all my surroundings.

I made it safely through everything. So with that, I was ready. I decided it was time to ride to another town, alone. I was going to meet a friend in Canggu for sunset. I left way earlier so we could hang out poolside before.

I set out for the adventure. I had packed my bathing suit, sarong, extra shirt. The phone holder was attached to my mirror so I could see my phone, I had my earbuds in so I could hear the directions. I had my face mask on and then my helmet.

Off I went. I made it to the first light and my GPS hadn’t spoken to me not once. I pulled over to see which way to go and I went the wrong way anyways. So I made another turn and pulled over to check my GPS again. I knew the general direction so if I ever felt lost I just turned toward the general direction and hope for the best.

I left kinda early so that I could take my time and not rush. His place was about 3miles away; which if you were in the states would be like 5 minutes. Here its 22mins. All the roads look like back roads. There are no roads that go straight, everything curves off of each other and if you don’t know the area then you are just hoping for the best, like me.

I went through some major traffic centers and there was a certain point my phone began working. I was so grateful. I had already pulled over so many times it was nice to just listen and not pull over. I finally made it and I was so grateful and proud of myself.

My next challenge was going to be driving home after sunset.

Here’s the kicker…we were leaving for sunset and we all took our own bikes. Before I even backed out all the way my friend says that I have a rear flat tire. WTF…ok whatever. LOL..just go with the flow. That makes it 2 days in a row with a flat. I decided to leave it till the next day, So I spent the night out.

Doesn’t look flat but totally is!

Never did get to ride home at night, But I am also not in fear of it anymore. Just one of those things I wanted to get over, but clearly in my time, lol. Cuz I totally took my time with that and that is fine by me.

More adventures await, fearlessly yet very aware and alert!

Bali Day I Don’t Know…

It has been 11 days since my last post. I took a time out for a bit because I realize all I have been getting on with is all the relaxation, the food (and I’m not even a foodie- lol) and kicking it poolside.

I’m sure even you, the reader can tell me what I have been doing since my last post. However, there has been a few major changes that have occurred. One is I left Canggu and moved to Semyniak; I met Aric at our new pad that we rented for a month. He had been on the lookout for a potential roommate as we rented a 4 bedroom villa.

We arrived around 10am and our potential new roommate came to check out the place at noon. His name is Charly and he is from New Caledonia, which is a french island off the coast of Australia and New Zealand. Aric and I already chose our rooms downstairs. He scoped out the scene and we talked for a while and he was sold and so were we.

It turns out to be a great situation for all of us. We are all awesome and it works. We have been here now since the 7th. Since living with these two, I have started working out again, I rode on the major roads and kept up. I finally went on the major road solo without getting lost and without my phone. That was huge!

So now that we are sort of all caught up, I am going to continue to blog about my journey but more so on the aspects of what is really going on. Between the energies that surround me and how the Universe has my back.

I will write separate blogs about the events that take place as they occur; But I don’t need to share with you all the food I’m eating lol. With that being said I hope everyone is well and staying positive!

xoxo

Bali Day 25

I got up today to watch the sunrise around 6am. Again waking up at 5 but didn’t feel like getting out of bed quite yet. So I got up at 6 and went outside to see the sunrise. It was quiet, no one on the property was awake yet and I wandered to the back of the property to see it better. It was beautifully radiant.

Bingo

When the sun did pop up, Made came out to take the offering to the temple and Bingo tagged along until he saw me sitting there.

It was already warm out so I decided to jump in the pool to wake up a bit more. Made asked to clean my room and while I was in the pool so I said sure. She really didn’t have to but sure why not. While she was doing her thing I saw a cat run into my room I paid no mind as Made was doing her thing and I, in the pool.

I was in and out of the pool reading and sunning. Ken came out and we started to chat it up for a while. We decided we would go for a ride and find this juice place he had been talking about and then find some lunch.

I got out of the pool and went in to change to go for lunch. I was about to walk out of my room and I felt a presence. I looked to the left and next to the bed in my little night stand there the cat was hiding. She had been in there for some time, as Made closed the door and I was kicking it poolside. The kitty watched me open the door and ran out and I locked the door behind us.

I rented the motor bike and Ken and I were off. He took me to this little juice spot on the side of the road next to a tattoo shop. The lady made fresh pressed juices. We were there sampling everything while she made Ken’s. I ended up buying 2 500L bottles. Ken bought 1 liter. I got an anti- inflammatory and digestive juice, clearing the pathways.

When we were all settled up with this lovely lady, I followed Ken to this bar called Black Cat Mini Mart. Apparently when it is open you walk through the refrigerator door into the bar. It was closed so I wasn’t able to actually check it out but it was a cool concept.

Ken decided we could go to the Nomad Cafe, which was literally right behind us. He was a member so we were able to eat there. It was really cool. It was open and spacious, they have private rooms you can rent out. Every seat had outlets for digital nomads to work. We sat outside in a little sofa space. Very cozy.

I loved it, Ken said that normally the place is packed and you can’t find a seat; but thanks to the corona the place was practically empty. Just a handful of digital nomads working on start ups or working with clients and then there was us… It was a hidden paradise for expats.

I met a guy from I think Bosnia, his name is Zlatan. We were exchanging numbers and I went to put it into my phone but my phone wasn’t working. I couldn’t figure out why but then they were telling me my Sim card probably finished. That put me in a pickle, I had to go to the ATM to get some money and I put my card on lock; I couldn’t take any money out yet because I didn’t have internet access. Gratefully I Ken was with me, he let me borrow 50k and I was able to get my phone in order. We then found an atm and it didn’t work. I decided I will just try again later.

It was so hot out with the sun beaming down so when we got back we jumped in the pool and cooled off. Clouds started rolling in but they never actually covered us, but we ended up getting sun showers. It was awesome, I let the pool and showers cool me off while still sitting in the sun.

When I went back to my room to change I saw the little kitty laying on my bench outside my room, so cute. Just lounging, relaxing like I have been. So I joined for a while.

The sun had gone down Ken and I started drinking by the pool again as it was still hot but night time. We drank what we had and Ken decided he needed a few more. Ken and I went out to the store to grab some munchies and he got some Smirnoff and I had my wine still.

The trip to the store was quite interesting indeed. The people that were out grocery shopping, everyone’s different languages. It was so entertaining. I had fun in there. We made it back and continued munching and drinking. Ken was in the pool and bats were flying all around and dipping into the water for a drink. Ken was in the pool freaking out, it was hilarious and they were so cool to watch their flight patterns.

He got out of the water and we hung out again on his porch and listened to music from around the world. Ken asked me where I wanted to go in the world; I chose a place and he had music from mostly any country on his playlist. It was so fun. We literally went to every continent. By the time I was finished with my beverages and he his, it was midnight. Way passed my bedtime. So away I went Ken was sad because he was not tired but I woke up hella early so I was sleepy.

Bali Day 24

Today is the day to catch up on my blogs. When I take a trillion pictures it takes awhile to go through them and add all the media to the blog. As you can tell I have been trying to be as thorough as I can with my daily activities. And there are some days I do nothing and have zero pictures.

This morning I woke up and was sleepy. I got out of bed and read my horoscopes for the day. I meditated for 10 mins to set the tone for the day. Then I did some planks and jumped in the pool to wake up so more. I watched one of the 3 cats play with a bug in the garden.

I made myself some eggs and toast; and for the record I only made 3 eggs and made a sandwich. It was so delicious but then I had to clean up immediately otherwise all the little baby ants would invade my space. Not cool. They are everywhere. When I made watermelon juice, I cleaned everything, or so I thought. I came back to wash my glass and there were ants everywhere…I would’ve taken a picture but I was pre-occupied freaking out!

I pulled out the little table from my room and placed it in front of the bench outside; So I could still enjoy the outdoors, aka pool and sun. I literally kept going back and forth with my laptop and pool all day. It was nice, until it started raining.

By the time evening came around I decided to go for a walk to see if anyone was open for food, I walked down the street, not too far away and found a little joint that only did take away. I ordered chicken satay and friend noodles with cap chay and took it home.

Sunset

I sat outside, because I didn’t want any ants following me into my room. I was going to go out but decided I was tired and stayed in. I went in the room, laid down and watched Ozark’s. Went to bed after 2 episodes.

This is where I stay…

Bali Day 23

Arik and I were all packed up and ready to go. We both wake up hella early so we were sitting around for a while. Started getting hungry so we decided to take the motorbikes and find some breakfast.

We found this cute little spot that had a little shop in it. Had a yummy little breakfast and I bought a sarong. I saw it and was like, “yes! Thats the one”. We sat there for awhile just relaxing, cuz that’s what we do in Bali.

We rode back towards the house and dropped off the scooters. Dude was gonna come and pick them up but we were right there so we took them back. It was a short walk back to the villa and we still had about an hour. We moved all of our stuff into the garage and waited for Eka and Ayu to come pick us up.

They arrived right on time and we threw everything in the car and we were on our way. We went to Kuta first and dropped off Aric at his new pad. We got a tour of his little studio apartment, private kitchen and bathroom, both separate from the bedroom.

We said our “see you laters” and the rest of us jumped back in the car and headed to Canggu. We had a challenging time finding the place, we drove passed it and had to turn around. We had to call the hosts to ask for a landmark.

We finally find it and we unload and check the place out. I saw one guy who was apparently checking out and it looked like it was just going to be me. I asked Eka and Ayu to drop me off at the grocery store as it was on their way out of town. It was right down the street so I didn’t mind walking back.

I bought a watermelon and some eggs, water and a pastry; really a chocolate croissant. I threw it all in a bag and meandered back to my pad. It was a hot walk. When I got back I unloaded the groceries and found my bathing suit and jumped in the pool. So refreshing.

I sat down on my bench and I chilled out for a bit. As I sat there I saw someone pull up on a scooter. I sat and watched the interaction with the host. The gentleman turned around and walked toward me and introduced himself. Including a little pup, named Bingo.

Bingo

His name is Ken from Canada. He has been in Bali since January. He was the only other person here at this place. We talked for a while and offered me a drink. So we had a couple of drinks and hung out poolside. After a while I started to get hungry, it was probably around 3pm so I asked him if he wanted to go grab lunch somewhere.

We got ready and we were gonna go to this little spot called Dandelion. But as suspected, they were closed, as many restaurants were closed. So we rode around saw a bunch of pizza places open. I don’t really do pizza and being in Bali, I really don’t want pizza; Even though I ate mexican food here… I still didn’t want pizza.

We rode around for about 10 mins and passed a greek restaurant. We pulled in and were told that we have to sit a certain distance from everyone. Only a handful of people were allowed to eat there at a time. We lucked out and we were able to sit.

Holy wow…So good and filling. I hadn’t eaten since breakfast at like 730-8am. So I ate everything. I had a sampler platter with everything on it. I even made room for dessert, baklava…YESSS! No I did not eat the ice cream…LOL

When we finished eating we headed back and went our separate ways. It was early but I was tired. I spent the rest of the evening getting settled in and relaxing.

As I sit here writing this I realize that I go out somewhere and I come back and relax, either poolside or in my air conditioned room. I do a lot of relaxing, I feel that that is what life is all about. I kind of do that at home too but not to this degree; But at home I caught caught up with material things as far as being in your own home and having everything you need at your fingertips; As opposed to being somewhere with just a few things. I find myself sitting with self more and reflecting. Meditating has been my go to.

I am just blessed to have this opportunity to sit with self to reflect and manifest in the most beautiful place I’ve ever been too. In one of most healing places, as Bali riddled with healing energies.
