Bittersweet Endings

My time here in Florida has come to an end. I leave this beautiful state on Saturday. I have come to Florida with the intention on being here for only 4 months and reconnecting with my sister.

Girls Day

My time here was challenging and amazing. The first 2 months were just thinking too much and not living my life to the fullest. I had no routine and was all over the place. As time progressed I realized this and decided to let it all just be. That time was January. Funny, had to clear the year and decade to move forward.

As the new year began, everything literally began to change. Mostly due to perception and acceptance. I then began to live my life in pure gratitude, again. Work dynamics changed for the better, the people I surrounded myself with changed for the better, my thoughts have been consistently positive.

I started going out and letting loose, what a relief from the way I was feeling last year. And now here it is, I am leaving. My original intentions for moving down here was to build a relationship with my younger sister and work to make some extra cash for my upcoming trip; and to check out the area, as I haven’t yet found a place I would like to root down in.

I can tell you that I now have a fabulous relationship with my sister, I did make some money and I made some life long connections.

I do love the area I live in because it reminds me of Long Beach, CA. Everything about it is so similar. However, I don’t feel this is the place for me and I am ok with my continued search. I know deep down that I will be moving over seas somewhere before the end of the year.

I will miss my people here but once again, it’s time to move on. I made sure to take Thursday and Friday off for spending time with my sister and packing. Then Saturday morning I’m off, headed back to Maine before I jump on a plane for a 2 month trip.

I am so grateful for my time here, wouldn’t have changed anything except learning of publix subs and ordering online sooner!

The end of a beautiful chapter, just to start the biggest new beginning ever…

PEI, Here we come

Day 3 of our adventurous journey

We had decided to take our time leaving St. Andrews. Sleep was important and was was our morning routines. Eventually we packed up our belongings and left the room, headed to down to eat breakfast before we depart. We took one last looky lou around the room and saw it was snowing outside…booooo! I remember one other time it snowed on my birthday, so uncool mother nature.

Anyways, we meandered down to the restaurant and ordered the breakfast sandwich, if you happen to go there, make sure you try that at least one time…so delicious!

We both looked at each other and realized that the bridge to PEI had a toll, I told Krysta, I have a $1. She looked at me with her quirky smile and said yeah, probably more than that. So I googled it. I just about choked on m y water when I read $47 and change. I certainly did not exchange any money so hoping they take CC we left. We later found out that they do take CC, however not until you leave PEI.

We start our 4 plus hour journey to Prince Edward Island. Today, the 25th is my actual birthday and as we drove on, the rain kept on and the snow kept appearing. I don’t mind the snow but with snow comes cold weather and when you are on the water its windy so I was not 100% enjoying the drive. Especially because I was driving (my new car).

We passed through many small areas of nothing and then we would come up and more nothing. We did drive through a major city, if that’s what you would like to call it. It was cute and quaint and at this time I cannot recall the name of the town. But they did have a Costco! hahaha.

Needless to say we make it to the bridge. It really was beautiful and wicked long, I’m pretty sure it’s about 8 miles. You look out and nothing but ocean. Gorgeous. However I was driving so I had to be cautious and keep my eyes on the road.

We continue to drive for what feels like forever by now. We finally make it to our Bed n Breakfast spot. WOW, gorgeous and centered basically downtown. It is called “Fairholm INN”.

We pull in and unload after checking in. Our room was so cute and quaint, there were 7 rooms I believe 6 were upstairs and the dining area was equipped with a fireplace and lounging and about 5 two top tables for breakfast all set with plates and menus for the next mornings breakfast.

I stepped outside to grab a couple more things out of the car and ran into the owner, Brook. I was staring at my phone while walking to my car and I hear a voice, he’s friendly! I look down and this huge beautiful dog came running up to me, so excited to play I pet him as he jumps around me in excitement. Brook let me in on some good eats around the area, I let him know we did not want to be in the car any longer. So he suggested several places around the block.

Krysta and I landed at Terra Rouge, small menu, but there was something for the both of us. So we stayed. At this point I was achingly hungry, I was sweating even though it was raining because I needed something in my belly. I asked the lovely lady if they had any bread, because at this point I couldn’t even focus on the menu. She brought out some delicious bread and butter.

For those of you who don’t know me…I LOVE BUTTER!

I slathered the bread with the weird looking butter and starting eating. I just about fell to the floor wondering what on earth this woman just gave me, it was the best tasting butter I had ever eaten! She came back and told me it was miso butter and they make it in house. My mind was blown. I needed more of this, like all the time. Even though I don’t really eat alot of bread at all, I would figure out a way to consume the amount of butter I purchased from them.

After dinner we wandered back to the inn and decided to rest for the remainder of the evening. Two long days of driving we were tired. The beds we had were amazing comfortable. I always bring my own pillow but I didn’t need to. I was all cozied up on my twin bed.

Krysta was nervous about falling out of her bed, but gratefully she didn’t!
