Bali Day 12

I was feeling so much better. I didn’t have as many cramps but I was bloated. I took some Acidil and left it alone. I was still kinda nervous about leaving. I ate some toast and avocado and more fruit.

I hung out mostly in the pool and in the common area. It was around 1pm when I started to get real hungry and again I wasn’t ready to leave yet so I tried to order off of gojek food, basically like uber eats. I was able to order food from the first night I was here, Nonii’s. I was happy about that. I may have waited up to an hour or so which I was fine because it didn’t require me to leave.

As it arrives I get so excited and open it up straight away. Delicious chicken satay and a salad. I don’t know why but I feel like the salads here are so much better then the US. I rarely eat salads in the US but on occasion I will. I found myself eating more salads here for sure. Maybe it has to do with the temperature and no pesticides.

As I enjoy my delicious meal, a new face pops in. His name is Arik and he is from Hawaii. He is also on his first big solo trip, so we immediately hit it off. We made plans for dinner and went our separate ways. I continued with the pool and the common area all day.

7pm came around we decided to walk to a café that Phillip had told us about. It was quite the walk but it’s so much better to walk with someone at night. Up until this point the only place I’ve walked around at night was in Ubud, at the Gio Vanda house. I felt comfortable walking around by myself there. Not so much anywhere else I’ve landed thus far, at night. I did go to Kuta for dinner but I had a gojek drop me off where I was meeting my friend. Then we walked together back to the main road.

The café we were going to closed about 10 mins prior so we kept walking. The street was so dark, thanks mom…for my flashlight (that thing has come in handy everywhere I’ve stayed so far. I am really appreciative for it). We were able to see the dogs lying on the street so we could avoid them just in case. Then we had to walk through a dirt road so we were able to see all the puddles. We finally make it back to the main street and find an Italian restaurant that was open. It was the first spot. We decided to do it. We sat down outside and relaxed.

My stomach had been doing great all day, I was stoked. I ordered a salad because it sounded so good again, after all it had been so hot all day it seemed so refreshing especially paired with watermelon juice. He ordered a pasta dish that he said was really good.

This was taken on our way back from dinner. Neverland, club that was closed due to covid-19. So many awesome graffiti artists around Bali. This just happened to be all in the same place.

We got up to leave and not even a minute after we began our walk back it started pouring. Not really sure how far away we were but we passed the grocery store that I had gone to the other day. Crossing the streets were challenging on the main roads. It was like frogger trying to cross, but we made it unscathed. By the time we got back everything I was wearing was soaked. We stayed up for about 30 mins and went our separate ways once again; and to bed I went.

Bali Day 6

Waking at 4am this morning was not cool, but in lieu of everything going on in the world I decided to do some research. I found more places closing and decided that I am going to have to stay in Bali! oh darn…

I called home to see what my parents found out, as I delegated some tasks of research. We found the number to the embassy and my dad emailed them in regards to my situation. I shared with my parents my thoughts on everything and let it all go. After all, today is my last day and I want to enjoy every second I have left here.

Passion Fruit, Mangosteen Fruit, Snakeskin Fruit, Rambutan Fruit

I had an appointment at 8am for a reiki session from a dear friend Cathy Abeyta in California. I laid down on the napping bed and we facebook video chat. We went through all the chakras and found out some pretty amazing things. I released so much that was no longer needed. Quite honestly I’m not sure what was released and I don’t need to know. I felt so much lighter, like a feather taken by the wind. It was amazing. So blessed to have had such a shift while here in this magical place. We pulled cards, asking a question about my situation with the visa, Universe has plans for me and I need not worry. She validated everything I knew and was feeling.

Feeling blissful, I reach out to Vipin. We were going to go to the waterfalls for one last hoorah. Even the girls came with us, it was so fun. We trekked down a hidden trail and this time I wore my hiking shoes. Glad I did. Another day in paradise as we approached the waterfall. We were a group 5. We were the only ones there for a few minutes.

Tours started to come in and so did the couple that came to Wavi the day before, my neighbors. We all played in the water, skipped some rocks and watched people take all their instagram photos. Yuni built some of her rock formations and everyone was having a grand time. We were the last to leave this beautiful place and in perfect timing as it started to sprinkle. Which would eventually turn into a down pour.

When we got back Vipin was going to head out to another village to stay for a few nights. So we said our see you laters and went our separate ways.

I went and packed everything I could, I figure I will get up at 5 anyways, and pack the rest. I will be sad to leave here. I found out that everything in this little village is closing too. I will be picked up at 930am and head to Kuta. I was going to Kuta so I would be closer to the airport. But now I am not going to Cambodia so I get to actually start planning my trip; sort of. I have a list of places I was intending on going so when I get to Kuta I can take a look and map it out.

But first thing first, Thursday morning I will go to the immigration office and figure out what is going on; and take it from there. In the meantime, a fellow GLT’r (Girls Love Travel) is in Bali as well. We planned to meet for dinner tomorrow night somewhere. So I will contact her when I get down there and see what we can make happen.

Blessed

I hope wherever you are in this World, I pray that you are safe and kind to others. Everyone has their own version of whats going on and their own feelings towards the events that are taking place.

Be loving and compassionate as you only have this very moment…

Bali Day 3

6 am Ready to go

A full 8 hours of sleep…I felt glorious this morning when I woke up at 5am. Making sure I was showered and dressed ready to go by 8. I had breakfast at 7, Ketut made me delicious breakfast again. Fixed with tempeh, tofu, hard boiled egg, potatoes, green beans, carrots and more delicious fruit with some amazing peanut sauce (slightly spicy).

Breakfast

I was heading up to my dream spot. The only place I had planned for my entire trip was this treehouse in Sukasada, northern Bali. Originally I wanted to stay for a week and then I was only able to get 3 days. I was willing to take anything. If you saw the pictures I saw, you know why. It’s my birthday and this is really the most special stay for me.

I left Ubud with Rai and we drove 2.5 hours north on all kinds of roads. Went through many little villages and passed so many little fruit stands on the side of the road. It was quite breathtaking. I was soaking it all in. We left so early because it’s a 2 lane road all the way here and if there are buses on the road, they slow up traffic. So we left at 8 and honestly I’m not even sure when we arrived.

The road to get to this place is very tiny. Somehow Rai made it down the first road. We looked at each other and down the tiny little path and he says, thats the end of the road for me. lol. So I grabbed all my goodies and walked carefully down the path.

As I walked onto the property my body began to feel at ease, even with all the weight I was carrying, I felt as light as a feather. I stopped and took it all in, the smells, the sounds, the air…literally breathtaking.

The lovely ladies here showed me my space…WOWWWWWW! Straight from a movie, It’s seriously like a dream, I am very much living a dream right now. This place is like magic. I never want to leave this place, like never ever…

I dropped off all my belongings and went back downstairs to finish the tour. A gentleman, Vipin, whom has been staying here for about a year now. I know why…I mean really. We talked and I ate another breakfast, omelette and fruit and a watermelon juice.

I then made all my calls so that I can go off grid for the rest of the day. I was on the phone with my sister and my phone was so hot it shut off in the middle of our conversation. So I put my phone in the fridge to cool down for a few minutes. I plugged it in and went straight to the water. They have a hammock hanging over the stream to enjoy. So I climbed right on in and meditated. It was heaven. Then I decided it was nap time. So I came upstairs and laid on the outside bed. Not sure how long I was there for but it was cozy.

When I got up I remembered I had laundry to do. I took everything to the bathroom sink and washed and then laid outside to dry. Before I knew it, it was time for dinner. I had the ladies make me chicken curry. So good with white rice and watermelon water.

Today was more for me and getting situated, not trying to work or get big things done. Just be. And that is exactly what I did.

About 730pm the ladies were leaving the property and wished me well. Vipin had already made his way back to his cozy corner and I sat outside all alone on this beautiful property. Taking it all in, the insects, birds, bats, water, everything was new to me and quite delightful. I eventually made it to bed at 830pm; crazy, but I was tired. Wrapped the bug net around the bed and off to lala land for this one…

Blessed…

Bali Day 2

Staying in Ubud (pronouced oo-bood) has been a beautiful experience. Waking up before the roosters around 5:30 was quite early, as I am still trying to catch up on rest. I went to bed at midnight just being overwhelmed with gratitude and trying to settle in.

When I woke up I went outside to see what it was like, temperature wise. It was humid as it had rained overnight. I went back inside and decided to shower and go for a walk. My mom bought me this citronella body wash and I swear by it. I haven’t had any bug bites since I’ve been here (Thanks Mom). I knew that I wouldn’t catch sunrise because I was slow at moving this morning but I was ok with that. I still wanted to go see a temple in town, called the Water Palace. I wore a long skirt, short sleeve nice shirt and flip flops; Grabbed my backpack and off I was.

Ubud, 630am

The streets of Ubud were silent as I made my way down the street. Women placing their offerings in front of stores or their temples, dogs meandering the streets, shop owners sweeping the store fronts. It was nice, no hustle and bustle yet. I made a few wrong turns, which I was ok with; sooner or later I would get back to where I was staying. I came upon the local farmers market, or just market. It was like what you see in movies (well everything here is like something from the movies, for me), the rain left the streets muddy and trucks and scooters, men and women running around buying selling trading. It was rather large, walking through a maze throughout a building. Some areas I didn’t feel I wanted to go because it looked creepy and dark and musty; so I stayed away. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, meats, flowers; the flowers smelled amazing. I found some watermelon and bought some, being my favorite fruit, for 3k rupiah (.21 USD). I wanted more veggies but I didn’t have a place for them and it was quite overwhelming. So I ate that and meandered.

I found the temple grounds but I am unable to find the entrance. So I walked down the street and found another one that I was able to walk right to. I walk in behind the store fronts and there it is…wow! Breathtaking. It just seemed so organic and unscathed by the world around it. Definitely a place of heaven on earth. I stood there in awe admiring it’s ancient beauty. You are unable to go into any temple without the proper attire. But you can go to the front of the outside of it…if that makes any sense.

I found the river next to this temple and followed it to the stair case that led me down to the river. The water is brown because well I don’t actually know but my guess its muddy and city. Either way, I wanted to walk down there, it looked like a jungle. It was so pretty with nature just pouring into it. I walked down the path for a few minutes when I saw a man doing his laundry in the water. So I turned around as I didn’t want to alarm him and headed back to the house.

Everything was still closed as far as shops and restaurants so it was nice to just window shop and see what everyone was selling without anyone trying to get you to come in. Not that I mind that, but I was really enjoying the stillness of the morning.

I made it back to the main street that the house was on and it looked like a building was on fire. I didn’t see anyone running to it or hear any sirens or anything which I thought was weird. Everyone seemed to think it was normal. It smelled horrible, I walked so fast to try to get away from it. It was coming from some sort of vent in the pavement into the street, I don’t recall if they were sewer drainage’s or something else, but it looked like something else. I make it back to the house and walked inside. Same thing was happening inside the courtyard…I saw Ketut and he tells me that they are fumigating for mosquitos. They do it every so often. I thought that was brilliant, however- doesn’t mean that they aren’t there, just not as many as there would be.

I made it back in time for breakfast. By that time I had sweat so bad that I was literally drenched. I sat down for an amazing breakfast which consisted of a banana pancake (organic)with coconut shaving on top and fruits. I ate everything, it was delicious and I’m not a banana eater.

I decided to jump in the pool to cool off. I meet two great people, Luca from Italy and Alice from Germany. We all hung out and learned about each other. Then went our separate ways. I wanted to take a nap but I had to make arrangements for my travels before I am off to Cambodia. So I figure that out and call my family and by the time that was all done. I was hungry again. So I made my way to the main area and found a place for some more delicious food.

Silver and Gold

I found a place and sat down. Ordered a chicken avocado salad with fruit, a watermelon water and a baby coconut. I wanted to hydrate as I had sweat out everything earlier in the day. Everything was amazing. As I sat there eating I was pondering what to do next. I had all these things to do back at the house but it was still so early and I had all the time in the world. When I left the restaurant I started the walk home and remembered to go look rings. I saw a shop that I wanted to go to so I went. I was looking for a couple of rings for a couple of fingers. What I found was, me walking out of there with four rings made in Bali by the owners of the store. I left there beaming as they were rings that I absolutely loved.

Walking out of there, now in the mood to shop; even though I need nothing, I went in and tried some clothes on in different places. I didn’t buy anything, I wanted to but I didn’t “love” anything as much as my rings. I’ve learned my lesson over the years to only purchase what you absolutely “love” and so I have been doing just that. I walk out of the last store and I see across the street the Monkey Forest. I laugh, roll my eyes and say, I’m here- lets do this.

Ubud

For the record, I am not up to par with my photo taking for others Instagram pages. This guy comes up to me and asks me to take a picture of him and his friends, 2 couples. I say sure and proceed to take a couple of pictures. The girls look at them and gave me a fake half smile- more like disgusted look on their faces. I laughed and walked on. Oh these little kids and their aspiring Instagram photos.

Walking through the forest, I was focused more on the architecture than the monkeys. Monkeys are cool until they are not. Gratefully I didn’t have any issues with them but I’ve heard all the stories. It was beautiful to walk through and I am glad I decided to go.

I get back to the house and proceed to get everything done and ready for tomorrow as I was leaving for the treehouse in the morning. That took some time. Trying to pack everything back up, I’m definitely learning what to bring and not to bring. By the time I finish all of that, I’m hungry again! hahaha. The food portions are small and so I eat more often.

I decided to actually do my hair and go find some yummies, after all it is friday the 13th. I found a little spot right on the street and sat down. I ordered chicken curry with white rice and potato somas. Both delicious. While waiting for my food, dude rolls up and sits next to me at the bar. We start chatting it up and he shares his story and I share mine. He gave me plenty of advice about where to go what to do where to stay etc, I asked him a bunch of questions and he gave me a bunch of answers; grateful. We exchanged numbers and went our separate ways.

Yes I brought my own pillowcase. And yes it is batman…

I got home and everything was finished so I crawled into bed and called it a night around 9pm. I was so grateful to crawl into bed. when I jumped in, I look down and saw that under the sheet was the american flag. I found that to be quite funny and on that note, out I went.

Feeling Fresh…

Sometime last week I had a facial, my friend mentioned it and we were gonna go together. Didn’t work out. So I scheduled one on my own. I went for an express facial, mind you I haven’t had a facial in over 5 years. I didn’t remember much of what they did but it felt good.

I have been tanning because I am in New England and there is no warmth from the sun and I just moved here from California. So tanning makes me feel really good. But after tanning a few days and several years of old skin, I was due for a facial. I could feel it.

I went to GLOW, here in York Maine. Amazing place. Everyone who works there is amazing and super friendly and kind. I went in and met Darcy. She gave me an express facial for 30 minutes which I feel was more like 45 mins. So as she is doing her thing I ask her a bunch of questions.
https://glowbodywork.com/

“What can I do in between facials and how often should do people get facials?” She offered several suggestions. Apparently people get facials anywhere from twice a month to every change of season. She suggested I use a fruit enzyme mask and something pumpkin. I didn’t remember what she said exactly. I asked her where I can purchase such things, she said any natural health food store. There happens to be one in Kittery, called Rising Tide Natural foods. Cute little shop. While I was in there perusing for my pumpkin stuff and enzyme mask I found amazing Rose Oil from NOW. Wow that stuff smells exactly like roses. I have been on the hunt for an inexpensive rose oil for years. This is it…it’s called rose absolute. YUMMM
(https://www.iherb.com/pr/Now-Foods-Essential-Oils-Rose-Absolute-1-fl-oz-30-ml/936?gclid=CjwKCAjw-ZvlBRBbEiwANw9UWmtAeLQTWEqoSmfxGhoCsHZW-NUqi-VsvT-HbpaOMMRPevLSApZ_nRoCwM8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds )

After finding that, I found the isle with all the skin care items. I found the fruit enzyme but they were sold out. Must be good, I thought to myself. Then I saw on the side that they had pumpkin face cream. BOOM! They had something pumpkin, just as prescribed by Darcy. They had a tester out and I tried it. My face was in heaven. However I wanted to buy them both at the same time so I can use them simultaneously.
(https://www.mychelle.com/products/pumpkin-renew-cream?variant=5506530148386&gclid=CjwKCAjw-ZvlBRBbEiwANw9UWip4WbN-GOCVxHo-4OO_4ZE3SEdxlzqT6AkjfdxT7qNxjadBEGz-MxoCcxMQAvD_BwE )

I went back after the 4 days the lady said the enzyme mask would be there and it still wasn’t there. I had gone to TJ Maxx and Marshals to search for something similar and didn’t find anything, but I still bought a mask anyways. So several days later I go back to the natural food store and there still didn’t have the enzyme mask, so I bought the pumpkin cream. I figured I had a mask so might as well. I picked it up and took it to the counter. The dude rang it up and said aloud, $29.89. I made one of those you have got to be kidding me faces and said “whoa!” I never looked at the price. I looked down and said, “my face LOVES it, I must honor my face!”.

So I bought it happy joyous and free. My face is super happy and every time I put it on my face thanks me. Self Care…That’s what that’s about. Real Talk.

Moral of the story is, whenever my body wants or needs something, I will listen and take good care of her. Because we only have one body in this lifetime to have. And I am only getting younger!!!

Boo Yeah!

Love, Light and Healing,

Budderflie
